DelayEchoes Reimagined

Candi-D

A stereo delay with a wide array of echoes. 25 combinations, 5 feedback characters — then 4 Sourness knobs for endless character. A sidechain ducker pulls the repeats back under the source, so the delay sits under the track instead of washing over it.

A closer look

Every screen, up close.

Candi-D — The face
The face

Two delay lines on one panel — Time and Ratio, Feedback and Skew, Wobble and filters — with the Sourness macros already in play at the bottom.

Five feedback characters

Every repeat, a different flavor.

MODE colors the feedback path — the same delay, run through a different circuit on every pass. Not a filter setting on top of one echo; a character the whole tail is built from.

Taffy Tape

Tape: warm, and it drifts.

Hard Candy

Clean digital, nothing added.

Gobstopper

Dark analog, and the noise breathes.

Rock Candy

Gritty and broken up, on purpose.

Butterscotch

The warmest and slowest of the five.

Why we built this

A delay with an accent.

A delay is usually the most utilitarian box in the rack — a clean repeat, maybe a filter across the feedback. Useful, and completely forgettable. The delays people actually fall for are the ones with a character: the tape that drifts, the bucket-brigade that darkens every pass, the box that falls apart in exactly the right way.

So in Candi-D the feedback path is a circuit you choose the character of. Taffy Tape drifts and warms, Gobstopper breathes bucket-brigade hiss, Rock Candy aliases on purpose, Butterscotch drags each repeat further down into the dark. Five of them, and none is a filter preset of the last.

Over the top of that sits Sourness — four macros, zero at the center, biting one way and cleaning up the other — and five routings, from a classic ping-pong to a cross-coupled smear that diffuses instead of bounces. Two independent lines, and a lot of rope.

A delay you reach for because of how it sounds, not just what it does. That is Candi-D.

What it is

Inside the box.

Two lines, five characters

Two delay lines with a feedback path you pick the character of, Taffy Tape among them. Ratio offsets the second line against the first, and Skew pushes the stereo balance without breaking the rhythm.

Sourness, against Sweetness

Sour, Chew, Fizz and Glaze: the same idea as Sweet-R’s Sweetness, tuned for a delay. Center is neutral, and both directions do something.

Snapshots, for the version you nearly kept

A delay is a settings problem as much as a sound: twenty-five character and routing pairs, four macros and two lines, and the version you had four moves ago is gone. SNAPSHOTS captures the whole face under a name, up to six of them, and recalls one in a click. They save inside the session rather than in your preset folder, so they reopen with the project, and a recall leaves your preset selection and the modified marker exactly where they were. BYPASS is the parameter your host’s own bypass button drives, so the two always agree.
