Activating a machine.

Activation exists once per machine and takes about thirty seconds. After it, the plugin says “Licensed” and does not ask again. There are two ways to do it — one click, or by hand.

The quickest way

1. Open the plugin and go to Settings → License. The gear icon, top right.
2. Type your license key and press Activate online. The key looks like BFX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX and is in your purchase email. Put it in the License key box and click Activate online.
3. That is it. The plugin fetches the license, ties it to this machine, and says “Licensed.” It never asks again.

Prefer to do it by hand? Use the steps below instead. They reach the same place.

By hand

1. On the plugin’s license page, copy the machine ID. It looks like A1B2-C3D4-E5F6-7890, under This machine.
2. Paste it into your account page. On your licenses, press Activate a machine, paste the ID, and give the machine a name you will recognize later.
3. Paste what comes back into the plugin. You get a long string starting BFX1. Copy all of it into the Or paste a license box on the plugin’s license page and press Activate.

That is the whole thing. It says “Licensed” and never asks again.

What the machine ID is

A short identifier of your computer. It is not a serial number we assign, and it is not stored in a file anywhere.

When it changes

It is tied to your computer’s hardware, so a big change like swapping the motherboard or CPU can change it — and on some machines, reinstalling the operating system does too. Everyday upgrades like a new drive, more memory or a graphics card will not.

When it changes, that computer reads as a new one and needs a seat. Release the old one on your account page and activate the new. You do not need to contact us or wait for a reply — that is the point of doing it yourself, so a license question is quick to sort out and never waits on us.

Two machines

One license covers two, which is sized for a desk and a laptop. Both can be activated at once and both keep working. If both seats are taken, the account page shows which machines hold them and lets you release one.

The trial

A fresh install runs for thirty days with nothing withheld: every preset, every mode, no noise burst and no periodic silence. Nothing to start and nothing to cancel.

When it ends, the plugin keeps loading and keeps its interface, but passes audio through dry. Your sessions are safe: nothing disappears, and a license restores the sound exactly where it was.

If your clock goes backwards

The trial notices a large backwards jump in the system clock and ends. Time zones, daylight saving and travel do not move Unix time backwards, and an NTP correction moves it by seconds, so a jump of more than a day is treated as evidence rather than as an accident. If it happens to you legitimately, write to us; it is fixed in a minute.

A machine that can’t show its ID

If a machine genuinely cannot show you its ID, say a headless render node with no screen, get in touch and we will sort it out by hand.
