Compote
Five classic compressors in one — VCA, FET, Opto, Vari-Mu and Diode with 15 vintage voicings. Topped off with a Preserve panel that adds the lookahead, oversampling, range and adaptive knee the vintage units never had.

Five compressors in one
Pick the circuit. Keep the layout.
Each mode is a genuinely different detector, with its own timing and character — not one circuit with a table of settings. Switch between them and everything you learned stays exactly where it was.
Tight and controlled — the transparent workhorse.
Very fast, and it colors when you push it.
Levels rather than clamps; slow and forgiving.
Tube warmth, and the ratio rises as you drive it.
Dense and weighty — the rock one.
Why we built this
Five boxes, one window.
Every engineer keeps a shelf of compressors and reaches for a different one depending on what is in front of them — a fast FET to nail a snare, an optical cell to smooth a vocal, a tube to glue a bus. They are not presets of one another. They are different circuits that hear the signal in different ways, and that difference is the entire reason the shelf exists.
But a shelf is friction. Five plugins, five layouts, five gain structures to line up before you can even A/B them. By the time you have loaded the right one and hunted down the knob you wanted, the idea you were chasing has already left the room.
So we built one window where the circuit changes and your hands do not. Pick VCA, FET, Opto, Vari-Mu or Diode and the detector underneath genuinely swaps — but the layout, the curve and the meters stay exactly where you left them. Same muscle memory, five different compressors.
Then we gave all five the thing none of the originals ever had: lookahead, an oversampled path, a program-adaptive knee and a gain-reduction ceiling — the digital precision the vintage boxes were built too early to include. Punch when you want it, control when you need it. That is Compote.

What it is
Inside the box.
Five topologies, not one with a table
VCA, FET, Opto, Vari-Mu and Diode each carry their own detector and their own character — a microsecond FET grab, an Opto with two recovery stages, a Vari-Mu that slows under load. Fifteen voicings across the five, on one fixed control layout.
The Preserve panel
Lookahead, a program-adaptive knee, an oversampled path and a range limit — the digital precision the modeled circuits never had, on tap over any of the five.
Snapshots, and a bypass that does not move the track
Fifteen voicings and a Preserve panel is a lot of ground to lose track of. SNAPSHOTS captures the whole face under a name, up to six, and recalls one in a click — saved in the session rather than in your preset folder, so they come back with the project, and a recall leaves your preset selection and its modified marker alone. BYPASS is the parameter your host’s bypass button drives, and because Compote reports lookahead and oversampling as latency, the bypassed path hands the dry signal back delayed by that same figure: the compressor drops out without the track sliding against everything else in the session.
